PleinairPDX Paint-outs for July 2026

  Plein air painters, Welcome to July in Portland Oregon. Prime time for painting outdoors. Here are a few paint-outs that you are all invited to. Bring your paints and enjoy the nice Portland weather. July is the time to paint fountains and water lilies. Not because they are easy to paint, but because they are hard to paint (forgive me John Kennedy), and we enjoy the fountain audio of running water.  Here are the paint-outs: Thursday, July 2nd , Paint Water lilies in Tanner Springs Park, NW 10th Ave and NW Marshall, from 10am to noon. Street paid parking and restrooms a block away in Fields Park, Ovation coffee is there also. Thursday, July 9 : Paint Keller Fountain, SW 3rd Ave and Clay St. from 10am to noon. Street or parking garage and restrooms in the 200 Market Building across the street. Thursday, July 16 : Paint Salmon Springs Fountain, 1000 SW Naito Pkwy, from 10am to noon. Portland PDX Paint outs June 2026

  The Rose Festival and Summer are both coming to Portland in June. So, you are invited to the following plein air painting dates and locations. Note that all the June paint-outs are from 10am to noon (the cooler part of the day): Friday, June 5th: Paint Fleet Week Ships from Vera Katz Eastbank Trail near Morrison Bridge, from 10am to noon. No restrooms. Bring earplugs, I5 is noisy. Saturday, June 6th : Paint Dragon Boat Races and views of downtown Portland from the OMSI. 1945 SE Water Ave. from 10am to 12:00pm. Paid parking at the OMSI or free parking under 99W at Oregon Rail Heritage Center,. Restrooms inside the OMSI. Hearing protection is also recommended here as we will be standing under the Marquam Bridge. Tuesday, June 9th: "Paint the roses red" at the Peninsula Park Rose Garden, N. Paint Calendar for May 2026

  Painters, Spring weather is finally here. So let's paint outdoors. Here are opportunities to plein air paint in Portland during May, 2026: Friday, May 1 ,  from 1pm to 3pm. Paint Tillicum Bridge or the OMSI from Robertson Collaborative life science , RCLS, building. Meet behind the building. Paid street parking along S. Meade St. and free parking across the river at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center. Trolley and Max also have stops at the RCLS Building. Restrooms are inside Elephants Deli.  Wednesday, May 6 ,  from 10am to noon  Paint the Hoyt Magnolia Trail in bloom. Meet at Hoyt Arboretum (where the bathrooms are), 4000 SW Fairview Blvd, at 10am, then walk to Magnolia Trail. A couple of hundred yards of walking required. Paint out Calendar for April 2026

  Welcome to Spring in Portland. The fruit trees, azaleas, camellias, and rhododendrons are starting to bloom.The dragon boats have returned to their place along the Riverplace Marina Dock, and the Thompson Elk fountain is returning to SW Main St. Join us plein air painting this month. Also, in May, 2026 is the Watermedia show at the Oregon Art Center, OAC, (formerly the Oregon Society of Artists) and in August 2026 there will be the Plein Air/ Alla Prima show at the OAC.Here is the April paint-out calendar: Monday, April 6:  Paint Dragon Boats from the Riverplace Marina Public Dock, 1500 S Harbor Way, from 1pm to 3pm. Street parking and public garage parking along S. Harbor Way. Walk onto the floating public dock and paint right next to dragon boats. Art shows in Umpqua and Corvallis in April 2026

  Plein air painters, Christine Schulbach , from our pleinair painting  group is having a show at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Or. Reception is April 1 at 5 pm at the Whipple Fine Art Gallery on Campus Keep in mind that it's a three hour trip one way. Christine says that she does not expect a large turnout from the Portland crowd. But if you happen to be down that way, then please stop in. Also, Eric Sandgren and Yolanda Valdes-Rementeria have paintings in the Art About Agriculture show at the Giustina Gallery at Oregon State University in Corvallis that is on the way. Paint-outs schedule for November 2025

  Portland Painters, It looks like a wet November this year. So, I have only scheduled two paint-outs this month. If it is raining straight down, I suggest we stay home.  Tuesday, November 4: Paint fall colors from Overlook Trail in Hoyt Arboretum from 1pm to 3:30 pm. Meet in the parking lot at 1pm and walk to Overlook Trail. Restrooms and paid parking available. Tuesday, November 11: Paint fall colors from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, 4000 SW Canyon Rd, from 1pm to 3:30pm. Paid parking and restrooms at Oregon Zoo. Take care and stay dry, Brooks
