Spring is here. For Portland that means Flowers and Showers. You have to decide your own tolerance for rain. If it is raining straight down I will attempt to reschedule when the weather is better. Here is our May 2024 calendar: Friday, May 3rd : Paint the Iris garden in South Waterfront Park, 2001 S River Dr. from 1pm to 3pm. Thursday, May 9th: Paint Crystal Springs Garden, 5801 SE 28th Ave, from 10am to 12:30pm. The Crystal Springs volunteers request that we carry our paint water in/out, that we have a drop cloth under our easels, and that we don't block the paths. There is an $8.95 entry fee. However, you may enter with the Community Access Program showing a Oregon Trail Card/ SNAP EBT WIC, TANF, REF/RCA or TriMet Honored Citizen. They suggest a pay-as-you-wish donation. Plein-air Painters, Here are the Portland Paint-outs for April 2024 (starting March 29th) Friday, March 29: Celebrate Emily Carr's life by painting in Cathedral Park. Paint an "Emily Carr " style painting from 1pm to 3pm. Emily Carr, born December 13, 1871, died March 2, 1945, painted North West scenes of British Columbia. Emily painted plein-air generations before it became popular. Google "Emily Carr Painting Images" to see her works. Monday, April 1: Paint Magnolia Trail Trees at Hoyt Arboretum, from 1pm to 3pm. Meet at Hoyt Arboretum, 4000 SW Fairview Blvd at 1pm where there are restrooms. Walk down the trails to Magnolia Trail, and back after paint-out. Forecast for Portland is wet, wet for the next couple of weeks. So tomorrow, February 28, looks much too wet and windy to paint outdoors.   In an attempt to pick the driest days for painting this month, I am scheduling both paint-out dates on this Thursday and next Thursday.   Thursday, November 9: Paint the Oregon Vietnam Veterans Memorial, 4000 SW Canyon Rd., from 1pm to 3:30pm.
