May 2023 Paint-out Calendar

The Portland weather is finally warm and dry enough to paint outdoors at will. So that is what we will do during May 2023. Here is the May 2023 Paint-out Calendar:

Tuesday, May 2: Paint the Dragon Boats up close and personal from Riverplace pier from 10am to 12:30pm. On the river side of the Riverplace Hotel, 1510 S Harbor Way. Parking on the street or in a garage.

Thursday, May 4: Paint Elk Rock Garden, 11800 S Military Ln. from 10am to 12:30pm. No restroom and very small parking lot, or park on S. Military Lane. https://www.elkrockgarden.org/

Wednesday, May 10: Paint Wednesday Farmer's Market at Shemanski Park on SW Main and SW Park Ave. from 10am to 12:30pm. Paid street parking. 4 hour parking on SW 10th.

Tuesday, May 16: Paint Centennial Mill and Fremont Bridge from Fields Park at NW 10th and NW Overton St. from 10am to 12:30pm. Street parking (paid) on Overton or NW 11th. Coffee and restrooms in Ovation Coffee. The City of Portland is constructing a tunnel under the Willamette and may be digging up Fields Park. So, we can paint from the wide paved skirt of the Encore Condos.

Thursday, May 18: Paint Crystal  Springs Rhododendron Garden, https://www.crystalspringsgardenpdx.org/ 5801 SE 28th Avenue from 10am to 12:30pm. $5 entry fee.

Saturday, May 20: The last day to submit entry images for the Oregon Society of Artist Rose Show. https://www.osartists.org/gallery/call-to-artists

Tuesday, May 23: Paint Pittock Mansion or great views of Portland from Pittock grounds , 3229 NW Pittock Dr, Portland, from 10am to 12:30pm. Pay for parking.

Thursday, May 25: Paint Willamette river views from Milwaukie Bay Park, 11211 SE McLoughlin Blvd. from 10am to 12:30pm.

May 2024 Paint-0uts

Spring is here. For Portland that means Flowers and Showers. You have to decide your own tolerance for rain. If it is raining straight down I will attempt to reschedule when the weather is better. Here is our May 2024 calendar: Friday, May 3rd : Paint the Iris garden in South Waterfront Park, 2001 S River Dr. from 1pm to 3pm. Thursday, May 9th: Paint Crystal Springs Garden, 5801 SE 28th Ave, from 10am to 12:30pm. The Crystal Springs volunteers request that we carry our paint water in/out, that we have a drop cloth under our easels, and that we don't block the paths. There is an $8.95 entry fee. However, you may enter with the Community Access Program showing a Oregon Trail Card/ SNAP EBT WIC, TANF, REF/RCA or TriMet Honored Citizen. They suggest a pay-as-you-wish donation.
